A great discussion. A troubling discussion. I just can't but help think that the evidence Dr Mazza brings to the table on this is considered and from authoritative. When I think of these things, I always lean on the three pillars of the Catholic Church: Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the Magisterium.
Dr Mazza appears to be harvesting from the three pillars, and I should ask myself the burning question: if Pope Francis or Pope Leo were around at Trent or some other Council prior to Vatican II, would they be anathematised?
